Bowmanville Engagement | Rotary Park | Andrea & Greg

I first met Andrea and Greg when they were referred to me by their wedding venue, Brock Street Brewing Co. They loved my documentary style, and during our first meeting we instantly clicked. Andrea is warm and open when you meet her, and our meeting ended in hugs and an instant booking. When I meet my couples, I always tell them that out of all your vendors it’s super important to actually like your photographer, so you can feel relaxed and comfortable when they are capturing your intimate moments on your big day. Luckily for me with Andrea and Greg, we became friends right away. Planning their Bowmanville engagement session was such a breeze, as they are laid-back but also impressively organized people. They planned their entire wedding on their own, and were super easygoing about everything. A lot of their relationship has been long-distance because of Greg being in the army (he served in Afghanistan), and I think this makes their connection extra special because of the dedication and commitment long-distance requires.

The evening we met for their Bowmanville engagement shoot was probably the first warm evening of the year—we literally rescheduled their session two or three times just because of the fluctuating weather. We started out at a brick apartment building, which was particularly special to Andrea and Greg since their first apartment together was the one above the archway in the second image. After they showed me their first apartment, we went on a walking tour of Bowmanville, which was lovely for me because I’ve never been before. I loved looking at the houses and getting a sense of the place their relationship has grown in. Andrea and Greg have been together for seven years (but have known each other for over a decade) and still live in Bowmanville to this day. Our walk took us to Lover’s Lane, mainly because I thought the street name was super cute. We talked about Greg’s time in the army and his plans for the future, and that their main goal for the wedding was just to have a kick-ass party (I’m sure they’re not the first with that goal!). We ended the night with romantic portraits on the bridge in Rotary Park. If you’re curious to follow along, I’ll soon be blogging about Andrea and Greg’s summer brewery wedding at Brock Street Brewing Co. in Whitby, so stay tuned!
